The origins of Girard Perregaux go back to Geneva in 1791, when Jean Francois Bautte, who had begun working at the age of 12 years in the world of watchmaking, made from only 19 years two precious watches his boss who decided to Jacques Dauphin partner to do business. In 1830 the firm employed 300 workers, and their products, machinery, boxes, spheres and wristwatches with stones, were known and admired throughout the world. In 1897, the firm received an inquiry from the German Navy 2,000 wristwatches, the first to be manufactured in series, which were a great success, but when they tried to export to the United States were not as well received. After the Second World War, the firm, known for its research, the patent “Gyromatic” (1957), a mechanism that will allow machines to perform very flat, and with an increasing frequency of high-HPV-up to 36,000. Girard Perregaux was one of the first houses that gave the move toward electronic models, manufactured in 1969 by launching its own mechanisms and in 1970 its first quartz watch technology. However, the heart of the company has always been in creating masterpieces with complicated mechanical mechanisms, such as the Tourbillon with three gold bridges in 1982. In the manufacture of each clock is investing about eight months and twenty limited edition watch was finally completed in 1990, and the following year the firm decided to create a version for the wristwatch. This limited series is now a collector’s piece, and the line more representative is a tribute to the brand of Ferrari racing cars. Launched in 1993, the collection began with a chronograph, 18-carat gold mounted on a leash. Subsequent models included, among others, a chronograph with stainless steel hand for zero and date.
