This name appeared for the first time in 1912 in Grenchen, and its launch is due to Walter Vogt, who began making mechanical watches with a box of gold. In 1926 Vogt met John Harwood, who two years earlier had invented the wristwatch rope automatically: the same year, Fortis presented at the Fair Trade in Basle the first automatic watch the world go into series production (previously only been produced very limited editions). Fortis continued to build the reputation of watches sober and very accurate in 1968 until he appeared on “Flipper”, a line of watches fun and full of color with water-resistant boxes. This line, the forerunner of future models Swatch, is one of the pioneers of the era of watches pop. In 1996, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of spaceflight (Fortis has given the team its technology officer of the Russian-European space mission since 1994), this firm produced the “Cosmonaut’s Chronograph” 18-carat gold, first developed in partnership with the Training Center Yuri Gagarmn.
