In the fascinating history of the watchmakers, Blancpain out as one of the oldest. The name of Jean-Jacques Blancpain first appeared on a watch engraved in 1735. His “factory” was in fact a farm in Villaret, in the Vallee de Joux, and still had to spend another hundred years for their great grandson could lift a small factory where the magnificent watches up to him fame in France would Germany and Russia. Then came the “Ladybird,” the machinery of timepieces ever made more compact-only 11.85 mmdc diameter. In 1983, two hundred and fifty years after its founding, Blancpain returned to the market with new owners, the house has established its headquarters on a farm in Le Brassus, a building identical to that in which he resided its founder. The occasion was celebrated with the launch of a standard automatic wristwatch with perpetual calendar and the innovative appearance of the moon phases in the area.
